My material, threads and needles arrived today that I ordered last week. Yippee!!!
Now my question to you is...
I know that my material piece needs to be cut 22.5 x 19.5, my pattern is 450 x 373, and I want to have 2" on every side for framing purposes, so, I need to start this, if start in upper left corner, 2" in from left and down from top, right?
Just want to ask before I do any cutting on the material sent me. I am thinking of putting a dot, with one of those pens that the mark goes away shortly after made, where I am wanting to start.
Does this make sense?

Green Man Cernunnos
Green Man Cernunnos.
I have got quite a few stitches in there now. I am fully aware that hardly anybody is going to like this piece, but it is for Colin.
A Green Man is a sculpture, drawing, or other representation of a face surrounded by or made from leaves. Branches or vines may sprout from the nose, mouth, nostrils or other parts of the face and these shoots may bear flowers or fruit. Commonly used as a decorative architectural ornament, Green Men are frequently found on carvings in churches and other buildings (both secular and ecclesiastical). "The Green Man" is also a popular name for English public houses and various interpretations of the name appear on inn signs, which sometimes show a full figure rather than just the head.
The Green Man motif has many variations. Found in many cultures around the world, the Green Man is often related to natural vegetative deities springing up in different cultures throughout the ages. Primarily it is interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, or "renaissance," representing the cycle of growth each spring. Some[1] [2] speculate that the mythology of the Green Man developed independently in the traditions of separate ancient cultures and evolved into the wide variety of examples found throughout history.

The Universe in a Jar
I made decent progress on this piece last week. It really helps when there are large areas of one color so you don't have to change threads so often. Next Sunday April 1 I will be changing to Village Bookstore. I am starting it as a SAL on my 2muchXS group in support of HAED.

Still Waiting
UPDATE 3/28/12: Yeah, my charts arrived. I most likely will stitch as it is charted, since the black at the top covers the first 40-50 rows, and I surely would confuse myself trying to modify that much.
I typically stitch on 28 count, over 2, fabric, so ordered 22 count hardanger for this project; However, I don't like it at all. I don't like Aida due to the stiffness and apparently Hardanger is (or is related to) Aida. So, went through my fabric and found some 25 count. I did some practice stitches on it, and think I can do the 25 count okay. So, cut the fabric and getting ready now to start stitching. When I have some progress that actually shows, I'll get a picture up.
I am still waiting for my charts to arrive; I ordered the morning of the 29th, but they haven't arrived yet. This will be my first HAED, I was so excited about starting him, but now I am getting nervous about the size of this thing. I have all my threads, my fabric and I want to get started. However, I have been doing some practice stitching and boy, I am having a heck of a time only going over one thread, as I always do over two. Bet I have a lot of frogging my first few weeks.
Has anyone done this chart? I am not sure what the gray stuff is bordering the top of the chart, and not sure if I like it. If I don't, assume I can just add the same number of rows doing the colors/stitches immediately below?

Spirit Storykeep
Stitched 1 over 1 on Lugana.
This is beginning to look better now that the pattern is starting to show. For some reason I can never seem to get a descent picture of it.
I am moving on to my Green Man HAED this week as I need a rest from Spirit.
Order In!
I just placed my order with Nordic Needle for my material, some more needles and what I could tell are page 1's threads.
From what I understand about how these designs work is that you go from page 1 to the final page and start in the upper left corner and work your way down or across, whichever you feel more comfortable with. Either way you do them stitching a 10 x 10 square at a time. Do I understand correctly?
Hope I am not asking too many questions!

The Toy Box - post #2
Here is a pic of The Toy Box after I spent a weekend (in between cleaning and taking care of the kids) stitching on it. It turns out that I didn't have to do any frogging, I just needed stronger reading glasses. lol You'd be surprised what you can see when you get the right strength glasses. lol Hoping to sit down and continue to stitch today and sometime this week head to Joann's for the few missing threads so I can get all the missing stitches done.
Hope everyone has a great week.

Day 1, Dizzy Heights
OMG It's gonna take forever!
You can hardly see it, but I stitched over 10 under 10 around the whole of where the chart is supposed to cover.
Then I just stitched around where page 1 is going to cover.
<This took me about 2.5 hours as kids kept bumping me and making me lose count and the darn things needed fed again.
(I think I'm gonna lock myself in the bathroom for the duration).
This little bit took about an hour, again kids bumping.
<That whole little box is all of page 1.
Despite all my griping I am really enjoying this. I am just dying to do more tonight but my eyes and my poor fingers cannot take anymore.
It is inevitable, when being bumped while stitching, to get pricked by the needle several times. ;)
I really admire those of you who do these HAED charts all the time. You are inspiring!
Hugs to all!

Morning Glory pg 5 done
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your kind words about my kitty :) Last week things were very hectic with my Grandbabies over everyday all day and my youngest home from IU for spring break. This week will possibly be a bit calmer ;). I was able to get some stitching in and was able to finish pg 5. Page 6 is only a partial and then the top row will be finished! I have to say, I'm ready to get back to the pretty blues of the flowers after stitching so much black.

Mab's HAED
This is called Dizzy Heights by Kristin Mills. The finished chart will be 16 W X 11-1/8 H.
I have about 60 of the DMC floss colors, contributed by my mom. (I dug through her big bag O' floss and pilfered about 50 or so.)
I need 86 total. I am heading to Pat Cataan's today and hopefully they'll have fabrics to sample so I can pick for certain which one I wish to get.
Fellow stitchers gave me some great advice on the fabric. I just fear buying online without having a rough idea which one I want. I do like the Opalescent fabric. If all else fails I'll order some of that and just pray it's right lol.
This is my first huge chart and my first HAED too. It's a bit daunting. I think what I dread the most is my girls asking for one for their room too. ;)
Happy Stitching Everyone!

Good news!
I am so excited! I wanted to share...
I was able to print out my pattern for my HAED a couple of days ago! I am having trouble uploading the picture of the pattern, but I still wanted to report this much. Now with my recent job that I started last week I will have some extra money and I can get the material and threads and then really get started!

Hello
Hi everyone :)
I started stitiching on Morning Glory by Garmashova on Dec. 29, 2011. While I have a few other HAED's in progress, this is my focus piece for now. I have finished the first four pages so far. I'm looking forward to watching everyone's progress :)

The Toy Box
The Toy Box stitched on what I believe is off white 22 count Aida 2 over 2. Have to do a little frogging before I can start back to stitching.
